Wall mounted aquariums have become very popular over the last 2-3 years. The largest seller of these wall mounted fish tanks is probably http://www.bayshoreaquarium.com, which is run by http://www.bayshoreindustries.com. In talking with Bayshore Aquarium I found out some info.

Currently, they sell at ’some’ Costco Wholesale locations in Southern California, through Fingerhut, and they hope soon Petco. They also sell their aquariums at various Casino Shopping Sprees and have been to numerous national trade shows. They actually wholesale to many retailers in their field (so, its not surprising they have the best prices).

Typically, you can put 1 (one inch) fish per gallon - FRESHWATER. They recommend African Cichlids as they have had the most success with them in their fish tanks. You can also do guppies, mollies, platties, neons, and more. One thing they recommend is using Algae Stopper in Freshwater fish tanks.

For Saltwater tanks they recommend at least a 9 gallon aquarium (or larger). They recommend only damsels, clown fish, or cardinals for salt water (and usually 1 per 4-5 gallons). They also recommend hermit crabs (usually 2 per 9 gallon fish tank).

For both Saltwater and Freshwater fish tanks they recommend you change 10% of the water every week or 20% of the water every two weeks. You may get away with 30% every three weeks, but you never want to change more than 30% of the water (even if its really dirty)...just increase the frequency of those changes and slowly acclimate the fish to ‘cleaner’ water.

The best products they have found have been PRIME and STRESSZYME... Prime removes nitrates/nitrates caused from fish poop and sometimes from overfeeding. Stresszyme adds millions of bacteria to help breakdown other bad particulates.

Definitely check out the fish tanks at http://www.bayshoreaquarium.com. Their fish tanks come with everything you need to run your aquarium, though they recommend getting a basic testing kit and to perform routine maintenance. Otherwise, its a great way to get started with an outstanding focal point...er...aquarium!
